How to design and rate the take-home assignment
It should be a fun sharing experience between the tester and the student to open up a conversation about the artwork they’ve created. One of the easiest ways to encourage students to share their work outside of school is through take-home assessments. These aren’t your typical assessments, and they will show students how their artwork interacts with the world. If the business rules are implemented correctly and rating is working properly. That “something” can be clear, with transparent evaluation metrics, but can sometimes be very ambiguous. The topic and difficulty level varies greatly, depending on the liking and standard of the company. The fundamental problem with a take-home assignment is a candidate has to put in time the employer doesn’t. A candidate may spend hours on a take-home, and the employer rejects them after only a cursory glance.
